Thank you for inquiring about our school. We are pleased to give you the following information and hope that it will give you a picture of what Big Chief is all about. Our school was established and licensed in 1954 and we have now been serving the community for over 50 years, owned and operated by the same family. The owners, Eleanore and Luanne Picinich, are the directors, and they both have degrees in Early Childhood and Human Development. They are always on the property to supervise and direct the program and to provide a clean, safe and nurturing environment for their students.



The school is licensed by the Board of Health, The New York State Department of Family and Children's Services, and The Board of Education. In 1987 our school was awarded National Accreditation. All of the teachers meet the Board of Education requirements and are warm and caring individuals. We have very little turnover of staff, and many of our teachers have been with us for 15 or 20 years.


We offer full day and half-day programs, two, three, and five days per week. We also provide before and after school care.

We are licensed to enroll children from 6 weeks through kindergarten. The school owns twenty mini buses, and transportation is provided free to all students in our area who are over the age of three years. Our drivers are our assistant teachers and our buses are inspected by the Department of Transportation, and we have received the highest safety record year after year .


We serve parent provided breakfast to children who arrive before 8:00AM. Snack is served in the - morning and afternoon and a nutritious hot lunch is served to all full day children.
